The VinaCapital Foundation is taking steps to protect the investment we have made in these poor children by providing one year of aftercare, nutritional support and money for school after their surgery. Heart disease is a difficult disease and many families are devastated financially as they struggle to care for their child.

We want to ensure that when they go home from the hospital the children have access to food, proper shelter, and the funds to attend school. As such, in 2008, The VinaCapital Foundation has implemented a program called Continuing Care for Heart Alumni.

Our funding partner for the pilot project in Ben Tre province is Nam Quang Tuition Centres in Australia. VinaCapital provided 100% matching funds for the generous donation from Nam Quang Tuition Centres.

Children that are eligible for the Continuing Care for Heart Alumni must meet two criteria:

• First, children are eligible if they have received surgical funding from The VinaCapital Foundation to undergo a surgical procedure to correct congenital heart defects;
• Second, the family of these children must retain their poverty certificate attesting to the need for additional help.
