Letter from the Board Chairman

When Robin and I started the VinaCapital Foundation (VCF) and Heartbeat Vietnam in 2006, I don’t think either of us dreamed we would be able to accomplish so much in such a short time.

The Foundation team is driven and focused on improving access to quality health care for poor children. The work they have done to improve capacity in the pediatric health care system is producing long-lasting, important results on which further improvements can be built.   In the area of secondary education, VCF’s programs nurtures some of Vietnam’s most disadvantaged youth who have shown extraordinary potential despite their difficult circumstances.  Finally, the not-for-profit International Management Institute of Vietnam (IMIV) is working to bring high quality, short-term business education to all levels of executive management.

It is also amazing to see the Foundation’s support base grow tremendously over the last five years.  VCF now receives financial and in-kind support from hundreds of individuals, schools, corporations, and foundations in Vietnam and throughout the world.  It has also been gratifying to see the growth in support and involvement among the local Vietnamese community, as one of our goals is to engage and encourage Vietnamese philanthropy.

The result of these donations is that thousands of children have been saved and given a second chance at life and a better future.  Every single donation brings us closer to realizing our mission, and we are grateful for your support.

The VinaCapital Group was pleased to help launch this fine organization and I have been very proud to serve as its chairman. It is exciting and motivating to reflect on what Robin and her team have done, and anticipate what they will tackle next to help the children of Vietnam reach their potential.  I hope you will continue to accompany us on this fantastic journey.

Kind regards,
