Scar of Life 3 featured the world premiere of “The Journey,” the emotional and inspirational short film by acclaimed director Cuong Ngo and starring Ngo Thanh Van and Vietnam’s best young actress, Lan Ngoc.  “The Journey” is based on the true story of Cao Hung Vy, one of our heart kids whose will to live overcame long odds and extreme suffering and pain.  Starting June 1 on International Children’s Day, “The Journey” will be screened in theaters across Vietnam—tickets are only 20,000 VND (~$1) and 100% of the proceeds will go to Heartbeat Vietnam.  Watch this link for The Journey’s trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ssg0n3uVM0&feature=g-upl Click here to see our viewing schedule.

The real-life journey that Cao Hung Vy and his mother as they desperately raced against time to bring life back is the inspiration for the movie.

The evening’s other highlights also included the debut of the “Heart of Glass” fashion collection designed especially for Scar of Life 3 by Vietnam’s top designer, Do Manh Cuong.  The fashion show featured the country’s top celebrities such as Dam Vinh Hung, Tang Thanh Ha, Ngoc Trinh, Thu Huong, and Ngo Thanh Van, Hoang Thuy.  The clothes were auctioned off immediately afterwards with the highest bid of $15,000 for Dam Vinh Hung’s custom white sequin tuxedo jacket!  The fun and exciting live auction, which also included a python handbag from Christian Louboutin and a magnum bottle of Grey Goose vodka, raised over $54,000!

Scar of Life 3 also included a silent auction of special items, including a luxury trip to Dubai with business class airfare from Emirates Airlines and luxury Mövenpick hotels, works of art by celebrated artist Truong Thanh, and stays at the Mövenpick and Ritz-Carlton hotels across Southeast Asia.  The silent auction brought in nearly $18,000 for Heartbeat Vietnam!

One of the biggest highlights of the evening was the “light your hearts up” portion of the evening.  Each guest received a heart-shaped light that they would turn on if they wanted to donate $1,000 to save a child, and to the happiness of all, 60 hearts were lit to donate $60,000 to Heartbeat Vietnam!
